Easy Fall Snack Mix

A tasty, sweet, salty, colorful, fun and delicious fall snack for after school, a party or even a bake sale! Because it's a dump and mix recipe (no seasoning or sauce added), it's quick and easy to put together!

For many years, when my girls were younger, their 4-H club was part of our community’s Annual Chili Cook-Off. One year, their club decided to have a bake sale. While the girls made baked treats too, they wanted to have an alternative item to offer. Together, we created our own fall, sweet and salty snack mix. Scroll down, below the recipe, to see how we made special bags of our snack mix to sell!

I think these would be great to hand out for random acts of kindness too! Teachers, neighbors, friends, elderly members of your church or employees at a local non-profit agency would love to receive a snack for no reason at all. Spreading kindness, just because it’s fall, is always a good idea. Because there is no extra seasoning to this mix, it's not too salty or too sweet. The flavors naturally blend together.

Spreading kindness, by sharing a treat, is always a good idea!

Presentation is important when selling items at a bake sale. After putting 2 cups of the snack mix in each quart size bag, we added our custom made “Happy Fall” labels. They were a fun addition to our bake sale! We made a double batch so we could keep a container at home too!

Easy Fall Snack Mix

YIELD: 13 cups

Ingredients

  • 3 cups caramel popcorn

  • 2 cups peanuts (I prefer honey roasted peanuts.)

  • 3 cups cinnamon rice cereal squares

  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists

  • 1 cup candy corn

  • 1 cup candy pumpkins

  • 3/4 cup M & M's, fall colors

Directions

Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl.

Keep sealed in an airtight container.

If you want to divide the mix into individual snacks, place about 1 1/2 - 2 cups of mix into quart size zip-lock bags.

The Labels

We simply created the labels on my computer. I had fall colored scrapbook paper, which is heavier than copier paper, to print the labels. We used the leaf shapes off of the shape section in Pages (iMac computer app.) We wrote the message and changed up the font.

We cut them out and glued them to the label.

For us, the most time consuming part was cutting each of the leaves. They were not cut perfectly and that was okay. We just glued the side with the lines, face down.

After filling the bags with the snack mix and sealing, we attached each label to a bag with a stapler, being careful to staple above the seal of the bag.

Viíola! A beautiful way to present a snack mix for a gift or bake sale.
