Take The Pictures

The holiday season is full of bonding moments, holiday parties with friends and family gatherings. This is your reminder to take plenty of photos of those you love and the moments you want to remember.

At Christmas, I have always been one of the people in my family to announce that it's time for family photos. I have had to listen to the groans and moans as everyone had to stop what they were doing to gather around for family pictures. One year, I decided that I didn't want to listen to the complaints, so I didn't make an announcement and we didn't take photos that year. That was the last Christmas that we spent with our mom. We didn't get our last family photo with her and that is one of my biggest regrets.

Taking photos is not always the most popular suggestion. People can come up with several reasons to not take a picture.

  1. We don't have time.

  2. I don't look good today.

  3. The kids are grumpy.

  4. I forgot to bring the good camera.

  5. There's not a good place to take the picture.

  6. I need to lose 20 pounds before anyone takes a picture of me.

  7. Not everyone is here.

  8. I didn't wear the right clothes.

Don't allow yourself to make excuses. Sometimes, moments only come along once and you only have one chance to get that shot. Don't forget the candid photos!

If you bake Christmas cookies with family, if you make gingerbread houses with friends or as you gather for the holidays with the people you love, don't make excuses. These are the moments that you and loved ones want to remember. Just take the pictures.
